DELASPERMA cooperi-PURPLE ICE PLANT PURPLE BLOOMS ZONE 5-9
DELASPERMA cooperi-PURPLE ICE PLANT PURPLE BLOOMS ZONE 5-11
•  Delosperma cooperi
•  Delosperma cooperi is a dwarf perennial plant, native to South Africa. It forms a dense lawn with abundant, long-lasting flowering. It will reach sizes of approximately 10-15 cm tall, with fleshy leaves and a trailing stem that hangs down.  This variety ‘cooperi’, it has needle-like leaves and fluorescent purple up-facing flowers make this semi-evergreen groundcover ice plant a sight to behold. Hot and sunny conditions keep the flowers of Delosperma cooperi coming most of the summer. This is a great groundcover for the beach, since it takes the salt as well as any margarita. A single plant of Delosperma cooperi can spread to 2' wide in one season. Although quite hardy, Cooper's ice plant cannot stand excessive winter moisture, either in the soil or applied from above.  Likes well drained soil with an acid pH of 5.8-6.2.  Watch for Aphids and Mealy Bugs, which are easily brought under control.  Zone:  5-11.

The 1st picture above is of the mother plant while the rest are of the actual plants we are selling.
Plant Type--Ground cover, Succulent      Height Range---Under 1'   Flower Color--Pink Flower Season--Summer    Leaf Color--Bronze, Gold, Variegated   Zone:  9a-11.

The succulent foliage of many types of sedum is topped by starry flowers in late summer and fall. Low-growing types are perfect for rock gardens, while taller varieties thrive in perennial borders. Another common name is stonecrop.

About This Plant

There are numerous types of sedum, all of which have fleshy, succulent leaves. Low-growing varieties hug the ground and may reach just 2 inches in height, while tall varieties top out at 2 feet or more. Use the low-growing types as ground covers and in rock gardens; tall varieties command attention in the perennial border with their dense foliage and large flower heads. Flower colors include red, pink, gold, yellow, and white, and plants bloom in summer to fall, depending on the species. Well-drained soil is essential to ward off fungal diseases, especially during wet summers.
